A trusted system asks for something big in return: everything. Every commitment you have, work and personal, goes into it. That’s a lot to hand over, so it’s worth being clear about where it goes.
When I rebuilt TaskBeacon, I wanted it to be something anyone could open and use straight away, and something that didn’t depend on a server to work. So there’s no account to create. Your tasks stay on your own device, in the browser, or in a file you own if you’d rather. And you can export the whole thing as one plain file whenever you like, and take it anywhere.
A system should hold your work reliably. It shouldn’t hold it hostage.
