Go back to the very beginning of this guide, to the day I asked you to imagine. You’re not overwhelmed. Your backlog is enormous and it doesn’t matter, because you’re not carrying it; the system is. You know what to work on, not because you spent the morning deciding, but because when you looked, the right few things were already there for you. Something urgent lands at eleven. It doesn’t derail you; you glance at it, see instantly where it fits, and either handle it or let it drop into place for later. The important project you actually care about keeps moving, a little every day, because it can’t get buried anymore, the system won’t let it sink out of sight.
That day isn’t a fantasy and it isn’t about the app. It’s what happens when the retrieval burden is finally off you, whichever tool got you there. Some of you will reach it on paper, running the hot list each morning. Some in the spreadsheet, sorting by score. Some with an engine doing the computing continuously. The further up the tiers you go, the less of the operating lands on you, but the destination is the same, and it was the destination from the first page: a system you trust so completely that you can put every task in it leaving your mind is free to do the actual work, because it finally believes nothing is falling through the cracks.
